Has anyone mounted the USA version 3rd brake light on a European version? Is it possible to directly mount, without any conversation?

it's possible but you have to drill some holes!

yes, it could be done. but its not an easy modification.
the 3. brake light needs a retain plate on each side to mount the
light (bulb tray) its also not easy to find the right position for
the light because of the buckling at this location.
