To make this site faster @ busy times/high peaks i have arranged a second server with his own upload account. To make this working i have to synchronise between each server. This has been arranged by RSync and SSH.

For the load balancing part i'm going to try Round Robin DNS. The system is as follows: The Corrado-Database has a cache directory, we moved this directory to the domain "http://cache.corradodatabase.com". The Round Robin system will translate this name to different IP-adresses 50/50 procent. So we have 2 identical servers on the same domain name.

Sofar completed:

Phase 1
All images are now hosted on a virtual host on the same server, called "cache.corradodatabase.com". The website is Already using this adress for images.

Phase 3

DNS is arranged, and now i'm testing the second mirror called "cache2.corradodatabase.com"... Beneath every page a small text is shown on wich host you are

It could give some error's now and then

I noticed despite the succes of the extra caching servers the load was relatively high on the main server, i figured that the html size was large too!

Tonight i turned on gzip compression on the server, that means the code it compressed transmitted wich can bring 20KB to 5 KB! So imagine that some pages wich lots of replies can take 60 KB uncompressed

I will take a look at the loading graphs this week now and then and will see the results

Martin,

I have a server available that might be used for caching..

What kind of disk-space and bandwidth are we talking about, roughly?

Cheers!
