1990 Corrado 1.8 G60
|
According to the search fuction of the database there are 35 16V-G60 Corrado's!!! From that number, only 16 are indeed the "real thing" (and i know at least another three-one feautering a 16V-Kompressor and one a 20V-G60 and another one 16V-G60 that is just not listed as one), while the remaining 19 just don't have the engine pictures to prove it. In some occasions also, many owners have admit that they don't actually have a 16V-G60 under their bonnet...This is really misleading and annoying, because when someone tries to find information, pictures, etc regarding this conversion, he bumps to non-existing 16V-G60's
My question is why do people tend to lie that much about owning a 16V-G60? I mean most owners don't usually lie about having a VR6 or an 8V G60 per say, but why is the "lie" percentage so high on the 16V-G60
Another issue that bothers me is if anyone here knows how many from that 16 real thing 16V-G60's actually work and are used? And also, i would love to learn if someone knows a 16V-G60 Corrado that maybe is not register to the Corrado-database (i know that in my country there aren't any, what about other countries?). This is a very interesting conversion and would love to hear more about its difficulties when building and actually making it work and drive

i meant *"don't" - fixed
Was there ever available a 3.0 VR6 from VW??? No, so i guess if your vr6 is bored to 3.0l then u should list it as a 3.0 VR6

I'm about to finish my 16v-Lysholm SC conversion project (by the end of august, I hope). I couldn't find the right category for my engine, only 16v-G60 is available. But it doesn't bother me, it's fine for me

After months of searching, I finally bought mine in march 2009 from a canadian vwvortexeer... it was a complete unmolested brand new BBM 16V-G60 conversion kit.
God exists, period.

I have one it runs but some of the routing and connections don't make sense and i'm trying to figure out if my setup is right or if there's a better way to do some of them. I agree everyone seems to know how to do a 16V G60 conversion but nobody has done it. Everyones an expert till you have a real question.

@ Tornado, my opinion is the following: Most of them see the option as 16v / G60 as in: choose this one if you have a G60 OR 16V, so they don't even know they choose the wrong engine type... This happens ofcourse only with people that don't know that much about the engine's available for the Corrado...

Totally agree with Alpay...my thoughts exactly
The 16V-G60 is the ultimate VW engine to build!!!
Btw, is your 16V-G60 driven? Any videos with it? Would love to see them
